Butler County, OH – A Lakota East High School teacher has been indicted on multiple counts of sexual battery following what authorities called an “extensive criminal investigation.”

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Justin Daniel Dennis of West Chester was indicted by a Butler County Grand Jury on August 29, 2025, on eight counts of sexual battery, a third-degree felony. Dennis, a teacher and Hope Squad mental health advisor at Lakota East during the 2021–22 school year, allegedly engaged in an ongoing sexual relationship with a student.

Dennis was first arrested on August 4, 2025, on a single sexual battery charge after allegations surfaced. He voluntarily turned himself in at the Butler County Jail around 3 p.m. Monday following the grand jury indictment.

Sheriff Richard K. Jones said in a statement that the case highlights the “betrayal that occurs when trust is violated” by educators and mentors. “We will continue to stand with victims and pursue justice wherever these crimes occur,” he added.

The case is now being prosecuted by the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.
