Boise, ID – Breezy conditions are expected to continue across southern Idaho this evening, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph in the Snake River Valley and surrounding areas, according to the US National Weather Service in Boise. The strongest winds are forecast through late Saturday, October 4, before easing overnight.

According to the agency’s latest wind gust forecast, Mountain Home could see gusts of 35–37 mph, while Twin Falls and Jerome may experience winds up to 30–33 mph. Boise, Caldwell, and Meridian are also expected to see gusts near 25–30 mph this evening.

Forecasters say conditions will improve Sunday, October 5, with much lighter winds expected statewide. Areas such as Fairfield, Idaho City, and McCall will see calmer breezes by early morning, with gusts mostly below 15 mph.

Drivers in open areas and along interstates are urged to use caution, particularly for high-profile vehicles traveling across the Snake River Plain. The National Weather Service notes that while the wind risk will decrease by Sunday, southeast Oregon and parts of southwest Idaho may still see isolated gusts Sunday evening.
