Macon, GA – A wanted man was arrested in Bibb County after deputies reportedly recovered two loaded handguns, one confirmed stolen, and suspected narcotics during a traffic stop Wednesday.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Investigator Joshua Benfield attempted to stop a moped driver on Riverside Drive who was allegedly impeding traffic while riding without a helmet. The sheriff’s office said the driver failed to stop, made several turns, and eventually abandoned the moped before fleeing on foot.

Deputies say the suspect ran down an embankment and resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Investigator Benfield and Investigator Adam Grant assisted at the scene.

Authorities reported that one of the recovered firearms—a Derringer revolver—had been stolen. The male suspect, identified as a convicted felon with an active warrant, was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and is facing multiple charges related to weapons possession, narcotics, and resisting arrest.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
