Bibb County, GA – Two people were taken into custody over the weekend after Bibb County deputies responded to a call about unresponsive individuals inside a vehicle on Vineville Avenue, authorities said.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Division Deputy Shane Benton was dispatched to the scene following a report of a male and female inside a truck who were not responding. Both individuals were located, received medical attention, and were later transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.
Deputies said a search of the vehicle was conducted based on probable cause. During that search, investigators allegedly recovered two handguns along with drug paraphernalia, including knives, syringes, glass pipes, and plastic bags containing what appeared to be heroin and other unidentified substances.
Authorities said the evidence led to multiple charges connected to firearms, narcotics, and drug-related equipment. According to the report, charges in the case include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession or purchase of a controlled substance listed in Schedule I or Schedule II, possession or use of drug-related objects, acquiring a license plate for the purpose of concealing the identity of a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempted commission of certain felonies.
Officials did not immediately release the names of the suspects or additional details regarding their medical condition. The investigation remains ongoing, and all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has not announced whether additional charges could be filed as laboratory testing on the suspected narcotics continues.
Residents in the Vineville Avenue area are encouraged to report suspicious activity to local authorities.
