Bakersfield, CA – Nearly 50 workers in Bakersfield are expected to lose their jobs this summer as a major employer plans workforce reductions at a local facility.
According to a WARN notice filed with the California Employment Development Department, Aramark Campus, LLC will lay off 49 employees at its location on Stockdale Highway. The workforce reduction is scheduled to take effect Thursday, June 11, 2026.
The filing indicates the layoffs are part of a broader operational adjustment, though specific reasons for the cuts were not detailed in the notice. WARN filings are required under state and federal law when companies plan significant job reductions, giving employees and local officials advance notice.
Aramark, a global provider of food services, facilities management and uniform services, operates in a variety of sectors including education, healthcare and business dining. The Bakersfield site has served as one of its regional operations in Kern County.
Local workforce agencies are expected to assist affected employees with job placement services, unemployment resources and retraining opportunities. Officials often encourage impacted workers to connect with state employment programs as soon as possible following a WARN notice.
The announcement comes as parts of California continue to see fluctuations in employment across service-based industries. While some sectors have experienced hiring growth, others have faced restructuring tied to changing contracts and operational demands.
No additional layoffs tied to this location have been announced at this time. It remains unclear whether positions will be relocated or permanently eliminated.
Employees impacted by the June layoffs are expected to receive further communication from the company regarding severance, benefits and next steps in the coming weeks.
