Batavia, IL – Aldi has issued a recall of its Emporium Selection Brie Soft Ripened Cheese across 12 states, including Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri, over potential listeria contamination. The recall, conducted in partnership with Savencia Cheese USA, affects 8-ounce packages of the brie cheese. The affected product, sold at Aldi and Market Basket, carries the UPC code 4099100084016 and a “Best By” date of 12/24/2024.
According to the FDA, listeria was detected on processing equipment at Savencia Cheese USA’s manufacturing facility, prompting the recall. Although no illnesses have been reported, customers are urged to discard the product or return it to stores for a full refund. Listeria infections can cause serious health risks, particularly for pregnant women, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
Aldi emphasizes its commitment to customer safety, advising those impacted to contact Savencia Cheese USA at 800-322-2743 or by email for additional support. As a precaution, Aldi has removed the product from its shelves. The company apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the recall and encourages customers to seek prompt refunds if affected.
