Wheatfield, NY – Authorities have identified a 58 year old Wheatfield man who died following a motor vehicle crash on Mapleton Road in Niagara County earlier this week.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff 's Office, the victim was identified as John W. Kelly, 58, of the Town of Wheatfield.
The fatal crash occurred Monday, Oct. 5, at 3735 Mapleton Road. Sheriff's officials said the incident was reported at approximately 4:23 p.m.
The sheriff's office described the incident as a fatal motor vehicle accident but did not provide additional information in its latest update about the circumstances leading to the crash.
Officials also did not specify how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone else was injured.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate the collision. Additional details may be released as investigators determine what happened.
Mapleton Road runs through Wheatfield in Niagara County, northeast of the Buffalo metropolitan area and southeast of Niagara Falls. Drivers in the community may recognize the roadway as one of the local east west routes through the town.
