Troy, NY – A 31 year old Troy man is facing four felony weapon charges after authorities say deputies and federal probation officers recovered a Glock style handgun equipped with an extended magazine and a conversion device.
According to the Rensselaer County Sheriff ’s Office, deputies responded to Troy on Sept. 18 to assist federal probation officers with the detention of Dyshawn D. Fisher, 31, of Troy .
During the investigation, authorities said deputies and probation officers recovered a Glock style handgun fitted with an extended ammunition magazine and what the sheriff’s office described as a “Glock switch.”
The sheriff’s office said the device can make the handgun capable of fully automatic fire. Members of the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit secured the firearm as evidence.
Fisher was arrested and charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon involving a loaded firearm , a Class C felony.
He also faces two counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon. One charge involves an ammunition feeding device, while the other alleges the weapon was defaced for concealment. Both are Class D felonies, according to the sheriff’s office.
Fisher was additionally charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a Class E felony.
Authorities did not provide additional information about why federal probation officers were seeking to detain Fisher or where in Troy the firearm was allegedly recovered.
The sheriff’s office said Fisher was processed and arraigned in Troy City Court.
He was subsequently remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail and remained there at the time of the department’s update.
The charges are allegations. Fisher is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
