Leicester, NY – Three residents of Mt. Morris in Livingston County, south of Rochester, are facing criminal charges after a domestic incident investigation allegedly escalated into a confrontation with sheriff's deputies, resulting in two suspects being charged with assaulting police officers.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff 's Office, deputies responded to a residence on Mt. Morris Road in the town of Leicester around 3:25 p.m. Sunday, October 25, following a delayed report of a domestic incident that allegedly occurred October 4.
Investigators allege that Nathan May, 27, had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation with a woman, causing her physical injury.
Deputy Evan Wolfanger subsequently located May in the village of Mt. Morris and arrested him on charges of felony aggravated family offense, third degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities said two additional Mt. Morris residents, Bruce May, 52, and Montel May, 25, allegedly attempted to obstruct deputies during Nathan May's arrest.
Both were subsequently charged with felony assault on a police officer, second degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. Montel May also faces a second degree harassment charge.
All three were transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and arraignment.
During arraignment before Town of Springwater Justice Johnson, Nathan May was released on his own recognizance.
Bruce May was remanded to jail without bail because of two or more prior felony convictions, according to the sheriff's office.
Montel May was remanded to custody with bail set at $5,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division and Forensic Identification Unit assisted with the investigation.
