Geneseo, NY – Two men face felony charges following separate investigations in Livingston County, including an alleged intentional vehicle collision in Geneseo and a DWI investigation in Livonia, according to sheriff's officials.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff 's Office, 19 year old Matthew Henry of Pavilion was arrested following a reported vehicle crash at Genesee Valley Plaza in Geneseo at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators allege Henry intentionally drove his vehicle into another vehicle, causing damage. He was charged with felony second degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor second degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
Henry was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. The Sheriff's Office said members of its Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Identification Unit assisted with the investigation.
In a separate case, deputies responded to the Rodeway Inn in Livonia at approximately 1:40 a.m. Monday for a welfare check involving a person who appeared to be passed out inside a vehicle.
Deputies identified the driver as 33 year old Matthew Sleight of Arkport. Authorities allege Sleight showed signs of possible alcohol impairment and was taken into custody following a DWI investigation.
The Sheriff's Office said Sleight allegedly refused a chemical breath test. A records check showed a prior DWI conviction in 2022, making the latest charge a felony. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated.
Sleight was also arraigned and released on his own recognizance under New York's bail laws, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The charges against both men are allegations. Each defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
