Buffalo, NY — Western New York residents can expect an unusually mild stretch of late October weather through Thursday, Oct. 29, with temperatures potentially approaching daily records in some communities before showers arrive Thursday evening and dry conditions return for Halloween weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, above normal temperatures will continue Wednesday and Thursday across western and north central New York, following a cool start Wednesday morning.
Wednesday afternoon temperatures are expected to reach the lower to middle 60s across much of the region, while communities east of Lake Ontario could remain in the 50s to near 60 degrees.
The milder conditions will extend across the Buffalo metropolitan area, Niagara County, Rochester and surrounding communities.
Near Record Temperatures Possible Thursday
Forecasters indicate that Thursday could bring near record breaking temperatures in some locations, continuing the warmer than normal pattern.
Although specific record temperatures were not provided in the latest outlook, the National Weather Service highlighted Thursday as a day to watch for unusually high readings.
Residents planning outdoor activities should find generally favorable conditions through much of Thursday before the next weather system approaches.
Showers Return Thursday Evening
Rain chances are expected to increase Thursday evening and continue into Thursday night, bringing a brief interruption to the mild, mostly dry pattern.
The National Weather Service has not identified significant rainfall totals or severe weather concerns in the supplied forecast.
By Friday, Oct. 30, dry conditions are expected to return across the region.
That improvement should continue through Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1, providing favorable weather conditions for Halloween celebrations and other weekend activities.
While temperatures may vary between lakefront communities and inland areas, the overall forecast favors a brief period of showers followed by several dry days.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts for Thursday's temperatures and the timing of evening rainfall.
