Brooklyn, NY – The New York City Sheriff’s Office conducted a citywide enforcement operation this week focused on so called “ghost cars” — vehicles using Law enforcement officials across the city have intensified their efforts to remove illegal vehicles from the streets. In a coordinated overnight operation, authorities successfully towed 53 vehicles in Brooklyn, citing the use of altered, expired, or non existent license plates.
The operation, led by the Sheriff’s Office, aims to curb traffic violations and enhance public safety. "Ghost cars" refer to vehicles with obscured or fraudulent plates, often used to evade tolls, tickets, and camera based enforcement. Officials stated that these vehicles are frequently linked to more serious criminal activity beyond simple traffic infractions.
Residents and commuters are advised that the crackdown is ongoing, and illegal registration practices will not be tolerated. The impounded vehicles were transported to city facilities as the investigation into their owners and registration status continues.
