Binghamton, NY – Cooler weather will spread across central New York and northeast Pennsylvania early next week, with Tuesday temperatures expected to run 5 to 10 degrees below normal.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, high pressure will keep Saturday dry and sunny across the region, with afternoon highs generally in the 60s.
Sunday should remain partly sunny for much of the area. A low pressure system passing south of the region could bring a few showers, primarily to parts of Pennsylvania, while highs reach the upper 50s to mid 60s.
A cold front will then cross the region early Monday. Behind it, cooler air settles across central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, although conditions should remain mostly dry through the middle of the week.
Monday highs are forecast to range from the mid 50s to mid 60s. Binghamton is forecast near 62 degrees, while Syracuse could reach 59 and Scranton 65.
Tuesday brings the more noticeable cooldown. Binghamton is forecast to reach about 58 degrees after a morning low near 40. Syracuse could reach 56, while Ithaca and Elmira are forecast near 58 and 59, respectively.
Some colder locations could fall into the 30s Tuesday morning. The NWS forecast shows lows near 34 degrees in Rome and Corning and around 35 in Oneonta.
The weather service has not indicated a widespread frost or freeze threat in the graphic. Residents should expect mostly dry conditions through midweek, with the biggest change coming from cooler temperatures behind Monday's cold front.
