Binghamton, NY – Residents across New York's Southern Tier and central New York can expect a cooler, largely dry stretch of weather this week, with temperatures in the 50s Tuesday, Oct. 27, and limited rain chances returning Friday, just one day before Halloween.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, cooler temperatures will settle across the region Tuesday while dry conditions continue. A moisture starved weather front is expected to move through Friday, bringing little to no rainfall across much of the forecast area.
Cooler Temperatures Across Central New York
Tuesday afternoon temperatures are forecast to range from the upper 40s to upper 50s across much of central New York, with some warmer readings farther south.
Binghamton is expected to reach approximately 56 degrees, while Syracuse could reach 53 degrees, Ithaca 55 degrees and Cortland 52 degrees.
Farther north, Utica is forecast near 54 degrees, while Boonville could remain around 50 degrees.
Temperatures in parts of northeastern Pennsylvania could climb into the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Dry Conditions Continue Through Thursday
Wednesday, Oct. 28, and Thursday, Oct. 29, are expected to remain predominantly dry across the region.
The National Weather Service precipitation outlook shows generally minimal rainfall probabilities through Thursday, offering favorable conditions for commuting, outdoor activities and Halloween preparations.
Friday Front Arrives Ahead of Halloween
Friday, Oct. 30, brings the next opportunity for rainfall as a weak, moisture starved front moves through the region.
Rain chances are highest in portions of central New York, including Rome, Syracuse and Auburn, where probabilities reach approximately 30% to 45% during parts of Friday.
Binghamton and several Southern Tier communities have considerably lower rain probabilities in the supplied outlook.
With Halloween falling Saturday, Oct. 31, families planning trick or treating should continue checking updated forecasts.
The available outlook does not establish whether Saturday will remain dry, although significant rainfall is not indicated with Friday's approaching front.
