Avon, NY – A late night traffic stop along Interstate 390 in Livingston County led to the arrest of a 51 year old Mount Morris man on multiple drug charges, with authorities confirming he was subsequently ordered held without bail.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff 's Office, the arrest occurred Monday, Nov. 2, at approximately 10:28 p.m. after a deputy observed an alleged traffic violation along I 390 in the town of Avon, south of the Rochester metropolitan area.
Deputy Matthew VanCuran, assigned to the Sheriff's Office Highway Patrol Unit, initiated the stop and identified the driver as Roger Yencer, 51, of Mount Morris.
Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Charges
Investigators said the deputy suspected drug activity inside the vehicle and conducted a roadside investigation.
During the investigation, authorities reported discovering crack cocaine in Yencer's possession.
Yencer was arrested and charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, along with misdemeanor criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
The Sheriff's Office did not specify the amount of crack cocaine allegedly recovered during the stop.
Judge Orders Suspect Held Without Bail
Following his arrest, Yencer was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre arraignment detention.
He later appeared before Town of Leicester Justice Scofield at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part.
Authorities said the judge remanded Yencer to the custody of the sheriff without the possibility of bail because of his history of two or more prior felony convictions.
The Livingston County Public Defender's Office represented Yencer during the proceeding, while the District Attorney's Office appeared for the prosecution.
The arrest highlights ongoing drug enforcement activity along Interstate 390, a major transportation route connecting communities throughout the Rochester and Finger Lakes regions.
The charges remain allegations, and Yencer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
