Avon, NY – A Livingston County traffic stop has led to a felony drug charge after deputies allegedly found cocaine inside a vehicle in the Town of Avon, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff ’s Office , Sgt. Mitchell McGee stopped a vehicle on East Avon Lima Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026 , for an alleged New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.
Authorities identified the driver as 24 year old Jaden Inboune of Lima, New York . During the stop, McGee allegedly observed narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputy Matthew VanCuran was called to assist with the roadside investigation. Investigators allege Inboune was found in possession of an unspecified quantity of cocaine.
Inboune was arrested and charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance , a Class C felony, along with a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation, according to Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.
The sheriff’s office said Inboune was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre arraignment detention. He was later arraigned through the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of York Justice Porter.
Authorities said the judge released Inboune on his own recognizance because the charged offenses did not qualify for bail under New York's bail laws.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Inboune at the arraignment, while the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office appeared for the prosecution.
The charges are allegations, and Inboune is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
