Albany, NY – Upstate New York is heading into a cooler and mostly pleasant start to the workweek, but a more widespread round of rain and possible thunderstorms could disrupt travel by Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, Monday and Tuesday are expected to feature mostly sunny conditions across much of the region. Forecast highs range from the 60s into the lower 70s Monday, with lows from the mid 40s to mid 50s.
Tuesday remains mostly sunny, with highs ranging from 64 to 73 degrees. Overnight temperatures could turn noticeably cooler, falling into the mid 30s in some locations and remaining in the 40s elsewhere.
Conditions begin changing Wednesday. Scattered morning showers are most likely across higher elevations, followed by increasing clouds. Temperatures will also climb, with forecast highs ranging from 71 to 80 degrees and lows from 49 to 56.
Thursday brings the week's greatest potential for widespread wet weather. The Weather Service forecasts rain along with a risk of thunderstorms, while highs could range from 68 to 82 degrees. Travelers should be prepared for periods of wet roads and reduced visibility where heavier showers or thunderstorms develop.
Conditions are expected to improve by Friday morning, with partly sunny skies returning. Friday highs are forecast between 61 and 78 degrees.
The five day outlook covers the Albany forecast area, where temperatures can vary considerably because of differences in elevation and location. Residents should monitor updated forecasts as Thursday approaches because the timing and coverage of thunderstorms could change.
