Albany, NY – Eastern New York residents can expect a sharp contrast between chilly overnight temperatures and pleasant afternoon sunshine this weekend, with some areas falling into the 20s Saturday night before temperatures rebound into the upper 50s and 60s Sunday, Oct. 25.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, high pressure will continue dominating the region through the remainder of the weekend, bringing mostly sunny skies, light winds and seasonable temperatures.
Saturday night will bring the coldest conditions, with overnight lows ranging from the 20s to lower 30s across the forecast area.
Cloud cover is expected to increase overnight, although winds should remain calm. Residents heading outdoors late Saturday or early Sunday should prepare for temperatures approaching or dropping below freezing, depending on location.
The colder conditions could be especially noticeable in outlying communities and traditionally colder valleys across eastern New York.
Sunday Brings Sunshine and Warmer Temperatures
By Sunday afternoon, temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 50s to middle 60s, slightly above normal for late October.
Sunny skies and light winds should create favorable conditions for fall festivals, hiking, outdoor recreation and other weekend activities.
The National Weather Service describes the overall weather pattern as calm and pleasant, with high pressure keeping widespread precipitation out of the forecast through Sunday.
For residents planning outdoor activities, the biggest consideration will be the temperature difference between early morning and afternoon hours.
Layers or warmer clothing may be necessary for early outings, while lighter jackets could be more comfortable later in the day.
With Halloween approaching Saturday, Oct. 31, residents should continue monitoring forecasts for the upcoming week. The current outlook does not establish specific Halloween night conditions.
