Albany, NY – Residents across New York's Capital Region face a chilly start Wednesday, Oct. 28, before temperatures climb into the 60s by Friday, Oct. 30. The warming trend will bring a noticeable change ahead of Halloween weekend, with mostly dry conditions expected through Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, mainly dry weather is forecast across eastern New York and nearby western New England through the weekend, although a few light showers could develop north and west of the Capital District Thursday night.
Wednesday morning will bring some of the coldest temperatures in the forecast. Albany is expected to reach 36 degrees around midnight and 48 degrees by midday. Saratoga Springs could see 33 degrees, while Glens Falls drops to 32 degrees.
Colder locations include Whitehall at 28 degrees and Piseco at 27 degrees early Wednesday. Residents in these communities should prepare for freezing temperatures, particularly during early morning travel.
A substantial warmup arrives Thursday and Friday. Albany's forecast temperature rises to 58 degrees Thursday afternoon and 64 degrees Friday afternoon. Saratoga Springs could reach 64 degrees Friday, while Kingston and Poughkeepsie climb to 68 degrees.
Rain chances remain minimal across most communities through Saturday, Oct. 31, making Halloween relatively favorable for outdoor activities.
However, the forecast changes heading into Sunday, Nov. 1, and Monday, Nov. 2.
Albany's precipitation probability increases to 45% late Sunday and 50% Monday. Amsterdam, Gloversville and Cobleskill also reach 50% Monday, while Piseco climbs to 55%.
Temperatures generally settle back into the 50s over the weekend before another modest warmup Monday.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts as the next opportunity for precipitation approaches early next week.
