Niagara County Sheriff Begins Fraud Prevention Effort This Week

Niagara County, NY – The Niagara County Sheriff 's Office has launched a proactive initiative this week aimed at protecting local consumers from financial fraud. Deputies are currently conducting systematic inspections of area businesses to identify and remove illegal credit card skimmer devices.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff 's Office, the department is utilizing specialized equipment, including Skim Scan and Skim Swipe technology, to detect hidden tampering at payment terminals. These devices are frequently used by criminals to illicitly capture customer payment information during routine transactions.
Officials are calling on the public to remain vigilant while shopping throughout the county. Residents who discover a suspected skimmer device at any point of sale are urged to contact the department immediately. Reports should be made by calling the non emergency line at 716 438 3393.
