Albuquerque, New Mexico – A significant surge of monsoonal moisture is moving into New Mexico, triggering a moderate risk of excessive rainfall through at least Wednesday. Residents should prepare for potential flash flooding as localized rainfall totals are expected to reach between 2 and 4 inches, with higher amounts possible in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service , the atmospheric conditions currently fueling this system could result in numerous flash floods, particularly in low lying areas, canyons, and dry washes. The moderate risk area covers a large portion of the state, extending beyond the immediate Albuquerque metropolitan area.
Outdoor work and travel should be re evaluated for the next 48 hours. If you are near vulnerable drainage areas or creek beds, remain vigilant for rapidly rising water levels.
