Albuquerque, NM – Fog could reduce visibility across parts of eastern New Mexico and several valley locations Monday morning, while generally pleasant weather and only isolated high terrain showers or thunderstorms are expected through the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, fog is possible across portions of eastern New Mexico, the Estancia Valley and sheltered high terrain valleys during the early morning. Visibility could fall to 1 mile or less, with locally lower visibility in some spots, before conditions improve by midmorning.
Patchy drizzle is also possible across southeastern New Mexico Monday morning. Drivers encountering fog should allow additional following distance and use low beam headlights.
Albuquerque itself remains dry Monday, with a forecast high near 75 degrees. Temperatures rise to 79 Tuesday and 80 Wednesday before reaching 77 Thursday and 75 Friday.
The Albuquerque forecast shows no precipitation through Saturday. A 20% probability appears Sunday, when the high is forecast near 74.
Elsewhere, a few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop over New Mexico's higher terrain each afternoon this week. The NWS expects little to no rainfall accumulation from this activity.
Some of the higher precipitation probabilities Monday are concentrated in mountain areas. Chama has a 30% chance, Angel Fire 20% and Taos 10%. Those probabilities do not apply to Albuquerque.
High temperatures are expected to remain near average across much of New Mexico through the week. Eastern communities will be warmer at times, with Tucumcari reaching 85 Tuesday and 83 Wednesday, while Roswell could reach 82 both days.
Residents should expect Monday morning fog to burn off by midmorning, followed by generally pleasant conditions and only limited high terrain shower and thunderstorm chances through the week.
