Mount Holly, New Jersey – Coastal areas in New Jersey and Delaware face significant tidal flooding and dangerous maritime conditions beginning Tuesday as a storm system develops over the western Atlantic. A Coastal Flood Watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening for Atlantic coastal zones and Delaware Bay.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly , minor flooding is anticipated during the Tuesday high tide cycle, with the potential for moderate coastal flooding to develop by the Wednesday P.M. high tide. Gale conditions are likely for area waters starting Tuesday night, with wind advisory conditions possible along the coast on Wednesday and Thursday.
Back bay regions, specifically Barnegat Bay and the Shrewsbury River in New Jersey and the Indian River Bay in Delaware, are at the highest risk for significant water inundation. Additionally, an elevated risk of rip currents and dangerous surf will persist through Friday, prompting a High Surf Advisory for all coastal areas.
Residents and mariners should exercise extreme caution near the water. While inland rain and wind impacts remain uncertain depending on the exact track of the low pressure system, stay alert for sudden changes in weather. Monitor local authorities for specific instructions regarding road closures or evacuation notices in low lying tidal areas.
