Portsmouth, NH – More than four decades after a 20 year old beauty school student was found murdered inside her Portsmouth apartment, New Hampshire investigators have released a previously unseen photograph in hopes of generating new leads in the unsolved case.
According to the New Hampshire Department of Justice, the state's Cold Case Unit renewed its appeal Sunday, Oct. 18, marking the 44th anniversary of the murder of Tammy Little.
Little attended the Portsmouth Beauty School and was last seen alive during the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 16, 1982.
Three days later, on Oct. 19, she was discovered murdered inside her apartment at 315 Maplewood Avenue.
An autopsy determined that she died from massive head injuries.
New Photograph Released After 44 Years
Investigators hope the newly released image will trigger memories among people who knew Little or lived in Portsmouth during the early 1980s.
Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from former Portsmouth Beauty School classmates, neighbors near Maplewood Avenue and anyone who may have encountered Little before her death.
The New Hampshire Cold Case Unit continues reviewing evidence and pursuing investigative leads alongside Portsmouth police.
Senior Assistant Attorney General R. Christopher Knowles emphasized that investigators remain committed to finding answers.
"No matter how much time has passed, we believe there are people who hold information critical to solving this case," Knowles said.
Family Still Waiting for Justice
Little's family described her as a joyful young woman who loved helping others and sharing their happiness.
Her loved ones continue honoring her memory while hoping someone will finally come forward.
Authorities have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect in the latest release.
