MANCHESTER, NH – A colder weather pattern is favored across New Hampshire Oct. 17 21, with temperatures potentially falling to around 30 degrees in Manchester Saturday night as below normal temperatures spread across much of the Northeast.
According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, New Hampshire is included in an area favoring below normal temperatures during the Oct. 17 21 period. The outlook shows increased probabilities of colder than average conditions across New England, with some of the strongest signals centered over the northeastern United States.
The Climate Prediction Center has also outlined a slight risk of hazardous cold temperatures for portions of the Northeast on Monday, Oct. 19. The designation represents a 20 40% probability of temperatures meeting hazardous cold thresholds, although the outlook does not establish specific daily lows for individual communities.
The National Weather Service forecast for Manchester shows a notable temperature change heading into the weekend.
Wednesday could reach 70 degrees, followed by a high near 62 Thursday. Showers are expected Friday, with a 90% chance of precipitation and a high near 60 degrees.
By Saturday, temperatures are forecast to reach only 49 degrees under mostly sunny skies, with breezy conditions expected. Saturday night could bring a low around 30 degrees, potentially allowing freezing conditions to develop in the Manchester area.
Farther north, colder air could support early season wintry precipitation where moisture and sufficiently low temperatures overlap. However, the Manchester forecast does not currently include snow, and the Climate Prediction Center's outlook does not establish snowfall probabilities or accumulation amounts for New Hampshire.
NOAA's precipitation outlook favors below normal precipitation across much of New England Oct. 17 21, suggesting the colder pattern may not be accompanied by widespread precipitation.
Residents should watch for temperatures approaching freezing Saturday night, particularly those with sensitive outdoor plants, while monitoring updated National Weather Service forecasts for possible frost or freeze alerts and the persistence of colder conditions through Oct. 21.
