MANCHESTER, N.H. — Open enrollment for 2027 health insurance begins Sunday, Nov. 1, giving New Hampshire residents a new opportunity to compare Marketplace plans, review premiums and determine whether they qualify for financial assistance.
New Hampshire uses the federal Health Insurance Marketplace at HealthCare.gov , where residents can enroll in, renew or change individual health insurance coverage for 2027.
Open enrollment runs from Nov. 1, 2026, through Jan. 15, 2027 . Residents who enroll or change plans by Dec. 15 can have coverage begin Jan. 1. Those who enroll between Dec. 16 and Jan. 15 generally will have coverage begin Feb. 1.
The enrollment period gives Manchester area residents and consumers across New Hampshire an opportunity to compare 2027 health insurance premiums, deductibles, provider networks and prescription drug benefits before renewing an existing plan.
HealthCare.gov advises people already enrolled in Marketplace coverage to update their applications and review available plans rather than assuming their current coverage remains the best option. Plan prices and features can change from one year to the next.
What New Hampshire residents should check Consumers shopping for 2027 health insurance should compare monthly premiums, deductibles, out of pocket limits, prescription coverage and whether preferred doctors and hospitals are included in a plan's network.
Household income also matters. Marketplace financial assistance is based in part on expected household income for the coverage year, and HealthCare.gov recommends updating income and household information when renewing coverage.
Residents can preview available health insurance plans and estimated prices by entering their ZIP code and household information through HealthCare.gov. Estimated premiums shown through the Marketplace can reflect financial assistance for which a household may qualify.
New Hampshire's individual health insurance market has substantial Marketplace participation. A state actuarial analysis projected roughly 69,000 New Hampshire residents could obtain coverage through the exchange in 2027 , with about 51,500 receiving advance premium tax credits under the assumptions used in the state's analysis.
Residents who miss the Jan. 15 deadline generally need to qualify for a Special Enrollment Period to purchase or change Marketplace coverage. Qualifying events can include losing other health coverage, getting married, having a child or certain changes in residence or household circumstances. Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program enrollment remains available throughout the year.
New Hampshire residents can compare 2027 health insurance plans, determine potential savings and enroll through HealthCare.gov .
