Manchester, NH – A chilly October morning could leave frost coating lawns, gardens and exposed vegetation across southern New Hampshire on Sunday, Oct. 11. Temperatures near 36 degrees threaten sensitive plants, while patchy fog could reduce visibility for early travelers.
According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, a Frost Advisory remains in effect from 2 a.m. until 8 a.m. Sunday. Forecasters warn that temperatures falling into the mid 30s could allow frost to develop across affected communities.
The advisory covers portions of central and southern New Hampshire, including Manchester, Nashua, Concord and surrounding communities.
Frost could damage sensitive outdoor vegetation, particularly plants left uncovered overnight.
Residents should protect vulnerable gardens and move potted plants indoors before temperatures reach their lowest levels.
Manchester's forecast calls for overnight lows near 36 degrees, with calm winds and patchy fog developing after 1 a.m.
Fog and frost may linger into Sunday morning before temperatures begin recovering.
Sunday afternoon brings increasing clouds and highs near 64 degrees, providing relief from the early morning chill.
However, another weather change arrives Sunday night.
Rain becomes widespread overnight, with precipitation chances reaching 100%. Forecasters expect between one quarter and one half inch of rainfall as temperatures remain near 49 degrees.
Monday, Oct. 12, brings a 30% chance of early showers before skies gradually clear. Highs reach 70 degrees, improving conditions for holiday activities.
