Las Vegas, NV – Residents and visitors planning outdoor recreation across southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona this weekend can expect generally pleasant November weather, but gusty north winds along the Colorado River could create hazardous conditions for boaters Friday and Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, seasonable temperatures and mostly favorable weather will dominate the region through Sunday, Nov. 8, while a Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect Friday and Saturday near Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu.
Gusty winds could affect boating and lake activities.
Forecasters are urging caution along portions of the Colorado River corridor, where stronger north winds may create difficult conditions on open water.
The advisory is particularly relevant for recreational boaters, kayakers and other visitors planning activities near Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu.
Wind driven waves and changing conditions can make smaller watercraft more difficult to control.
Visitors should monitor updated advisories before heading onto the water and consider postponing activities if conditions become unsafe.
Warm desert temperatures continue through the weekend.
Despite the wind concerns, much of the region will experience comfortable afternoon weather.
The National Weather Service forecasts highs near 74 degrees Friday at Lake Mead, increasing to 75 Saturday before returning to 74 Sunday.
Lake Havasu will be warmer, with temperatures climbing from 79 degrees Friday to 81 Saturday and 82 Sunday.
Visitors to Valley of Fire State Park can expect highs near 73 degrees Friday and Saturday, followed by 72 Sunday.
Red Rock Canyon will remain cooler, with temperatures ranging from 67 to 70 degrees through the weekend.
Higher elevations near Mount Charleston will experience significantly cooler conditions, with highs between 53 and 59 degrees.
Death Valley National Park will remain the warmest featured destination, with afternoon temperatures reaching approximately 85 to 86 degrees.
While the overall forecast favors outdoor recreation, visitors near the Colorado River should remain aware of the active wind advisory.
