LAS VEGAS, NV – Residents across southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona face continued rainfall and renewed thunderstorm chances Sunday, November 1, as a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for portions of the region through late tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, light to moderate rainfall will continue through Sunday morning, with the highest accumulations expected across Clark and Lincoln counties in Nevada and Mohave County in Arizona.
Forecasters warn that additional showers and thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon before conditions gradually dry out tonight.
Flash Flood Watch Remains in Effect
The NWS reports that a Flash Flood Watch continues for Lincoln County, eastern Clark County and Mohave County through late Sunday night.
The watch indicates conditions could become favorable for flash flooding, particularly in vulnerable locations such as washes, low water crossings and areas with poor drainage.
Communities around Las Vegas, Mesquite, Moapa, Pahrump and Kingman should monitor changing weather conditions, although rainfall chances and flood exposure vary by location.
The NWS precipitation outlook shows elevated rain chances across portions of eastern southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona during the morning, with additional storm opportunities developing later Sunday.
Travel Impacts and Afternoon Storms
Drivers traveling Interstate 15, U.S. Highway 93 and other regional roads should remain alert for standing water, reduced visibility and rapidly changing conditions.
Desert washes and low lying roadways can become hazardous when thunderstorms produce concentrated rainfall.
Motorists should never attempt to drive through flooded roads, even when the water appears shallow.
When Will Conditions Improve?
Forecasters expect showers and thunderstorms to diminish Sunday night as the weather system moves away.
Drier conditions are anticipated for the beginning of the workweek Monday, November 2.
Residents should continue monitoring National Weather Service updates, particularly if additional flood advisories or warnings are issued.
