Las Vegas, NV – Halloween weekend plans across southern Nevada could face disruptions as a developing weather system threatens to bring showers, thunderstorms and locally heavy rainfall beginning Friday, Oct. 30, with unsettled conditions potentially continuing through Sunday, Nov. 1.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, dry and mild weather will continue through Thursday before an approaching system introduces the possibility of widespread weather changes across the region.
Forecasters emphasize that considerable uncertainty remains regarding the timing, coverage and intensity of the potential rainfall.
Dry, Mild Conditions Continue Through Thursday
Tuesday, Oct. 27, through Thursday, Oct. 29, will feature partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies, with afternoon temperatures remaining near seasonal averages.
Afternoon breezes are also expected during this period.
The relatively quiet conditions should provide favorable opportunities for residents preparing outdoor Halloween decorations, community events and weekend activities.
However, the weather pattern could change significantly heading into Friday.
Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Possible Halloween Weekend
Beginning Friday, Oct. 30, an incoming weather system could bring showers and thunderstorms to portions of southern Nevada.
The National Weather Service indicates that some locations could experience locally heavy rainfall.
Cooler temperatures are also expected as the system moves into the region.
The potential for rain extends into Halloween Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1.
Halloween Plans Could Be Affected
Families planning trick or treating, outdoor festivals or neighborhood celebrations should pay close attention to updated forecasts.
Although thunderstorms are possible, forecasters have not established whether the heaviest rainfall will coincide with Saturday evening activities.
Residents should also remember that heavy downpours can create hazardous conditions on desert roads and in low lying areas.
No specific rainfall totals or storm probabilities were provided in Tuesday's outlook.
The National Weather Service stresses that forecast confidence remains limited and that conditions could change as the weekend approaches.
