Omaha, NE – Warm weather will build into Saturday across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, when windy conditions could raise fire weather concerns before a substantial cooldown and better rain chances arrive early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, Saturday highs are forecast to range from 82 to 85 degrees. The NWS specifically highlights possible fire weather concerns in northeast Nebraska as winds increase.
The warmup begins before the weekend. Wednesday highs will range from 78 to 82 degrees, followed by 73 to 76 Thursday. A 20% to 30% chance of showers develops Thursday night into early Friday, mainly across northeast Nebraska and western Iowa.
Friday turns warmer again, with highs from 81 to 84 degrees. Saturday remains similarly warm but becomes windy, making the combination of warmth and wind the primary weather concern in the seven day outlook.
Sunday stays windy and mostly sunny, with highs from 76 to 82 degrees.
A much more noticeable pattern change follows. Monday turns cooler with highs of 68 to 75 degrees and a 25% chance of afternoon rain. By Tuesday, highs are forecast to reach only 64 to 67 degrees, with rain chances around 30%.
That represents a drop of roughly 15 to 20 degrees from Saturday's warmest forecast temperatures to Tuesday's highs across the broader forecast area, though exact changes will vary by location.
The NWS has not indicated a fire weather warning in the outlook provided, so the Saturday threat remains a potential concern rather than an active warning. Residents should watch for updated fire weather information as Saturday approaches, followed by cooler conditions and improving rain chances Monday and Tuesday.
