OMAHA, Neb. — A warm, increasingly wet start to November will peak around 72 degrees Monday before showers, possible thunderstorms and gusty winds sweep across the Omaha metro, followed by a noticeable cooldown Tuesday through the remainder of the week.
The National Weather Service forecast for the Omaha area calls for a high near 67 Sunday, Nov. 1, with only a slight afternoon shower chance. Conditions become considerably more unsettled Sunday night, when showers and thunderstorms are possible and precipitation chances climb to 80% .
72° Monday With Rain and Gusty Winds Monday, Nov. 2, becomes the most active day of the local forecast.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected before late afternoon, followed by additional showers and possible thunderstorms. Rain chances reach 90% , while temperatures climb to around 72 degrees .
South winds increase to 17–20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 34 mph . Rain remains likely Monday night, with an 80% precipitation chance and additional rainfall potentially totaling one quarter to one half inch.
That combination of warmth, rain and strong southerly winds makes Monday the key first week weather day for Omaha.
Cooler Air Arrives Tuesday The change behind the system becomes clear Tuesday.
Showers remain likely with a 70% rain chance , but the high drops to around 61 — roughly 11 degrees cooler than Monday. Northwest winds could gust around 22 mph.
Tuesday night falls to approximately 45 before Wednesday reaches only 58. Thursday stays near 59, followed by 61 Friday and about 63 Saturday.
The result is a sharp first week progression: 67 Sunday, 72 Monday, then mainly upper 50s to low 60s Tuesday through Saturday.
Drier Pattern Favored Nov. 8–14 The wetter opening to November may not represent the second week pattern.
NOAA's November outlook favors a wetter tendency across portions of the northern Plains and Upper Midwest, but its separate Nov. 8–14 outlook favors below normal precipitation across a broad region extending through those areas.
Temperatures, meanwhile, remain tilted warmer than normal during the first half of November. The regional guidance identifies very warm conditions through mid November with a potentially drier Nov. 8–14 period as the primary Plains/Upper Midwest theme.
That does not mean Omaha will be dry or unusually warm every day. Individual cold fronts and rain events remain possible.
For now, the immediate story is clear: 72° Monday with widespread rain and gusty winds, followed by a cooler Nov. 3–7 stretch before the broader November pattern turns warmer and potentially quieter again.
As Thanksgiving and holiday travel season approach, the next question will be whether that mild second week pattern can continue keeping sustained winter weather away from eastern Nebraska.
