Could Nebraska Experience Another Historic Snowstorm? Western and northern Nebraska remain vulnerable to powerful winter systems capable of producing heavy snowfall, strong winds and dangerous travel conditions.
Major storms can disrupt Interstate 80, Interstate 76 and highways across the Nebraska Panhandle, particularly when blowing snow reduces visibility.
Although historical snowfall records cannot predict conditions for the 2026 27 winter season, they demonstrate the potential for extreme snowstorms across the state.
Residents should monitor National Weather Service forecasts and winter storm advisories throughout the colder months.
