Eastern Nebraska Pursuit: Troopers Arrest Man After I-80 Chase

Lincoln, NE – A North Dakota man was arrested Tuesday morning after an Interstate 80 pursuit across eastern Nebraska reached speeds of more than 100 mph and ended near Ashland, authorities said.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, troopers were notified shortly before 8:40 a.m. that the Milford Police Department was pursuing a vehicle believed to be connected to an active Fargo, North Dakota, police investigation.
The pursuit continued eastbound on I 80 toward Lincoln, where a state trooper joined near mile marker 388. The Nebraska State Patrol AirWing also began tracking the vehicle from above.
Authorities said troopers assumed the primary pursuit as the Toyota Camry allegedly continued east at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Lancaster County deputies and additional troopers joined as the pursuit passed through the Lincoln area.
Near Waverly, investigators allege the driver traveled onto the shoulder toward a trooper who was attempting to deploy stop sticks.
Troopers later successfully deployed stop sticks, according to the patrol. The vehicle exited I 80 at the Ashland interchange near mile marker 426 and stopped.
Authorities said the driver initially refused commands to leave the vehicle. Shortly after 9:10 a.m., he exited and was taken into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as Brandon George, 42, of Wahpeton, North Dakota. He was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
The State Patrol said George faces local charges including willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, attempted Class 1 felony and terroristic threats. The allegations remain subject to the court process.
Nebraska investigators are also working with Fargo police regarding their ongoing investigation.
The Lancaster County, Seward County and Cass County sheriff ’s offices, along with Lincoln and Milford police, assisted.
