Hastings, NE – Halloween plans across central and south central Nebraska could face damp conditions Saturday, October 31, as periods of light rain are expected to linger into the evening. Another round of showers and thunderstorms is possible Monday, November 2, as unsettled weather continues into the new week.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, clouds, patchy fog, drizzle and isolated thunderstorms are possible Friday evening before additional light rain develops across much of the region on Halloween.
Halloween Rain Could Continue Into Trick or Treating Hours
Friday night temperatures will remain relatively mild, ranging from 52 to 57 degrees. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible, particularly east of U.S. Highway 281.
Forecasters do not expect those thunderstorms to become strong or severe.
Saturday will bring mostly cloudy skies and periods of light rain, with afternoon highs ranging from 57 to 64 degrees.
Unlike areas where rain is expected to end before Halloween activities, showers across central Nebraska could continue into Saturday evening.
However, precipitation amounts are expected to remain light.
South southeast winds of 15 to 20 mph are forecast Saturday, with gusts reaching approximately 25 mph.
November Begins Cloudy Before Monday Storm Chances
Sunday, November 1, will bring continued cloud cover and a chance of isolated light showers. Temperatures will climb into the 59 to 67 degree range.
Daylight saving time also ends Sunday at 2 a.m., when clocks move backward one hour.
By Monday, November 2, showers and thunderstorms could return as temperatures reach 62 to 72 degrees.
Southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph could gust near 30 mph Monday.
The National Weather Service expects limited sunshine across the region until the middle or latter part of next week.
Residents in Hastings, Grand Island, Kearney and surrounding communities should prepare for a damp Halloween and monitor updated forecasts for Monday's developing weather.
