Glasgow, Montana – A Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect for Fort Peck Lake until midnight Monday night as high winds create hazardous conditions for boaters.
According to the National Weather Service , east winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected to develop, with gusts reaching as high as 45 mph. Wave heights are predicted to climb to 5 feet, which poses a significant risk for capsizing small watercraft.
Boaters and anglers should avoid the lake during this advisory period, as the combination of high wind and choppy water makes navigation dangerous. While winds are expected to briefly diminish overnight, they will ramp up again throughout the day on Monday.
Monitor for any extension of this advisory beyond midnight Monday night and exercise extreme caution near the shoreline.
