Billings, MT – Residents across south central Montana could experience unusually warm November weather this weekend, with afternoon temperatures approaching 70 degrees in some communities as a persistent weather pattern brings above normal temperatures through at least the middle of next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Billings, the region is entering an extended stretch of warm, mostly dry conditions that could challenge temperature records.
The forecast, issued Wednesday, Nov. 4, indicates that temperatures will gradually climb heading into the weekend, with Sunday, Nov. 8, potentially bringing some of the warmest conditions.
Temperatures Could Approach 70 Degrees Sunday
Billings is forecast to reach approximately 66 degrees Saturday and 68 degrees Sunday, considerably warmer than typical early November conditions.
Other communities, including Big Timber, Hardin and Miles City, are also expected to experience temperatures reaching the upper 60s.
The National Weather Service noted that some locations could approach 70 degrees Sunday.
Above normal temperatures are expected to continue through at least Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Gusty Winds Expected This Weekend
Despite the warm conditions, residents should prepare for breezy weather.
Forecasters expect west winds to produce gusts of 35 45 mph along the western foothills this weekend.
Drivers traveling through exposed areas should remain alert for crosswinds, particularly those operating high profile vehicles.
Rain Chances Remain Limited
The forecast also calls for predominantly dry conditions throughout the upcoming week.
A weak weather front could produce isolated light showers Thursday night, primarily over mountainous areas.
Beyond that, precipitation chances remain low across most of south central Montana.
The combination of sunshine, limited rainfall and unusually mild temperatures could provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities, although gusty winds may affect weekend plans.
The National Weather Service will continue monitoring whether the prolonged warm pattern approaches or breaks local temperature records.
