St. Louis, MO – Near record warmth is expected across eastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois Friday, Oct. 9, with another round of unusually high temperatures Monday, Oct. 12, when afternoon highs across the region could reach 94 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, temperatures will climb well above seasonal averages Friday before increasing clouds and scattered rain chances temporarily limit the warmth Saturday.
Friday will bring mostly sunny skies, with highs ranging from 85 to 90 degrees across the forecast area. The daily record high for St. Louis is 89 degrees, while Columbia's record is 91 degrees and Quincy's is 89 degrees.
Saturday, Oct. 10, will feature increasing cloud cover, with afternoon temperatures ranging from 75 to 86 degrees. Some rain showers are possible, primarily across southeastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois.
The Weather Service's precipitation outlook shows the highest rain probabilities southeast of St. Louis, with chances exceeding 50% in portions of the region Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning.
Areas farther northwest, including Columbia and portions of central Missouri, are expected to remain dry.
Sunday, Oct. 11, will bring clearing skies and continued mild conditions, with highs ranging from 78 to 88 degrees.
The warmest conditions are expected Monday, Oct. 12, when mostly sunny skies return and temperatures climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s.
Highs across the forecast area could range from 86 to 94 degrees, potentially approaching or exceeding daily records.
The National Weather Service lists Monday's record highs at 89 degrees in St. Louis, 94 degrees in Columbia and 90 degrees in Quincy.
