St. Louis, MO – Seasonably warm and dry weather will dominate the St. Louis region through Saturday, but rain chances are increasing for the second half of the weekend across southeastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, rain chances currently range from 20% to 40% late Saturday into Sunday , with the best opportunity focused southeast of the St. Louis metro. Forecasters emphasized that confidence remains low this far in advance.
Temperatures will remain unusually warm before the potential weekend change.
Wednesday could reach 81 to 88 degrees , followed by highs between 76 and 85 Thursday. Friday and Saturday could both reach 81 to 88 degrees across the region.
No significant rain is expected through most of Saturday.
The developing weekend rain chance comes as the remnants of Tropical Storm Isaias are forecast to move north through the Lower Mississippi and Ohio valleys. National Weather Service offices farther south and east are already highlighting tropical rainfall for Saturday and Sunday.
However, the St. Louis office did not specifically attribute its weekend rain forecast to Isaias in Wednesday morning's update. The eventual track of the tropical remnants could influence how much moisture reaches southeastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois.
For St. Louis, St. Louis County and surrounding communities, the greatest rain potential currently appears to remain south and east of the metro.
Residents with outdoor plans late Saturday or Sunday should monitor updates. Even a modest shift in the developing weather pattern could change where showers occur and how far northwest they reach.
