Springfield, MO – An extended stretch of unusually warm weather will continue across southwest Missouri and the Ozarks through Sunday, Oct. 25, with afternoon temperatures approaching 80 degrees and little indication of rainfall disrupting weekend plans.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, temperatures will remain above seasonal averages into early next week. Dry conditions are expected to accompany the warmth, providing several days of favorable weather for outdoor activities across Springfield, Greene County and surrounding communities.
Thursday, Oct. 22: Sunny skies will dominate the region, with afternoon temperatures reaching between 77 and 80 degrees. Conditions will remain dry, with comfortable weather continuing through the afternoon before temperatures begin falling after sunset.
Friday, Oct. 23: Another warm day is expected, with highs ranging from 75 to 80 degrees. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies will continue, while overnight lows are forecast between 45 and 54 degrees.
Saturday, Oct. 24: The warm pattern remains firmly in place as afternoon temperatures reach 76 to 80 degrees. Partly cloudy skies are expected, with overnight temperatures falling between 45 and 56 degrees.
Sunday, Oct. 25: Slightly cooler conditions are forecast, although temperatures will remain unusually warm for late October. Highs are expected between 74 and 79 degrees, with partly cloudy skies continuing.
The extended outlook suggests above normal temperatures will persist into early next week, although specific daily highs beyond Sunday were not included in Thursday morning's forecast graphic.
The combination of warm afternoons and cooler overnight temperatures could create noticeable temperature differences for residents heading outdoors early in the morning or late in the evening.
With no significant rainfall currently highlighted, residents planning outdoor events, fall festivals or weekend travel should encounter generally favorable conditions.
However, the extended dry pattern may also leave vegetation and other outdoor materials increasingly dry. Residents should continue following local fire safety guidance.
