Springfield, MO – Halloween weekend across southwest Missouri and the Ozarks could bring scattered showers and a few thunderstorms, potentially affecting trick or treating, fall festivals and other outdoor celebrations Saturday. Rain chances will increase as temperatures cool from unusually warm conditions earlier in the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, scattered light rain and a low chance of thunderstorms are expected at times from late Friday afternoon, October 30, through early Sunday morning, November 1.
Rain Chances Increase Ahead of Halloween
Thursday will bring warm and partly cloudy conditions, with afternoon highs ranging from 80 to 83 degrees across the region.
Friday remains mild, with highs between 76 and 81 degrees. However, rain chances increase to 20% to 30% during the afternoon and evening, particularly across western portions of the forecast area.
By Halloween on Saturday, October 31, scattered showers become more likely, with precipitation probabilities ranging from 30% to 50%.
Temperatures will also fall noticeably, with Saturday highs expected between 69 and 73 degrees and overnight lows ranging from 52 to 56 degrees.
The National Weather Service indicates that a few thunderstorms are possible, although the overall thunderstorm threat remains low.
What Families Should Expect Saturday Evening
For communities around Springfield and the surrounding Ozarks, the timing of scattered rainfall could become an important factor for Halloween celebrations.
While rain is not expected to fall continuously throughout the weekend, passing showers could temporarily affect outdoor activities.
Families should consider keeping umbrellas or rain jackets available and checking updated forecasts before heading out Saturday evening.
By Sunday, November 1, conditions are expected to improve as precipitation chances decrease.
A 20% to 30% chance of rain remains Sunday morning, mainly across eastern portions of the forecast area.
Sunday afternoon highs should recover into the 73 to 75 degree range.
Residents are encouraged to monitor National Weather Service updates for changes in rainfall timing and localized thunderstorm chances.
