KANSAS CITY, Mo. — November will begin mild across the Kansas City metro before a wetter, windier Monday brings showers and possible thunderstorms, followed by a noticeable cooldown Tuesday through the remainder of the first week.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for cloudy skies and a high near 69 Sunday, Nov. 1. Sunday night remains unusually mild around 60, with southeast winds increasing and gusts reaching around 18 mph.
73° Monday Before Rain Builds Monday, Nov. 2, becomes the most active day in the current forecast.
Kansas City is expected to reach around 73 degrees , while showers and thunderstorms become likely and precipitation chances climb to 80% . South winds strengthen to 13–18 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 34 mph .
Rain continues Monday night with showers and a possible thunderstorm. The Weather Service places precipitation chances at 90% , with temperatures remaining mild near 60 and southerly gusts around 29 mph.
The combination of lower 70s warmth, gusty winds and widespread rain makes Monday the key weather day of the first week of November.
Cooler 60s Arrive Tuesday Tuesday marks the transition behind the system.
A 50% shower chance remains, but temperatures fall to around 68 degrees . Tuesday night turns much cooler near 47 before Wednesday reaches only about 62 under mostly sunny skies.
The cooler pattern holds through the remainder of the week. Thursday reaches around 63, followed by 64 Friday and approximately 66 Saturday. Overnight lows generally fall into the mid 40s.
That gives Kansas City a clear sequence: 69 Sunday, 73 Monday, widespread rain Monday and Monday night, then mainly low to mid 60s from Wednesday through Saturday.
Warm, Drier Pattern Favored Nov. 8–14 The cooler end to the first week does not necessarily signal sustained winter weather.
NOAA’s broader outlook continues to favor above normal temperatures across much of the Midwest during Nov. 8–14 , while precipitation trends drier across a broad area extending through portions of the Midwest and adjoining states.
The regional guidance identifies warmth through Nov. 14 as the primary Midwest story, with a drier second week tendency becoming the secondary theme.
That does not mean Kansas City will stay warm or dry every day. CPC guidance describes average temperature and total precipitation tendencies rather than exact daily forecasts.
As Thanksgiving and holiday travel season approach, the larger question remains: when will Kansas City get its first sustained taste of winter?
