Jennings, MO – A 20 year old St. Louis man faces multiple felony charges after prosecutors alleged he injured a police officer while attempting to escape in a stolen vehicle during an August traffic stop in Jennings.
According to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, charges were issued Wednesday, October 28, against Marquis Hardin, 20, of St. Louis, following an incident on August 11, 2026.
Hardin faces first degree assault or attempted assault involving serious physical injury or a special victim, armed criminal action, tampering with a motor vehicle and two counts of first degree property damage.
Officer Allegedly Pinned Between Vehicles
Court documents allege officers responded around 11:43 p.m. to the 2600 block of Terrace Lane after receiving information about a stolen 2025 Toyota Camry.
Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen from St. Louis city on July 18.
When officers approached the Camry with emergency lights activated, a female passenger exited with her hands raised.
Investigators allege Hardin, who was driving, began moving the vehicle and then reversed into a parked Lincoln Continental.
According to the probable cause statement, an officer became pinned between the Camry's door and the vehicles, suffering an injury to his right shoulder.
The officer was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said the Camry was totaled and the Lincoln Continental also sustained total loss damage.
Arrest and $500,000 Bond
Investigators said surveillance footage helped identify Hardin as a suspect.
He was arrested in St. Louis city on October 25 in connection with separate allegations involving aggravated fleeing and first degree tampering.
St. Louis County investigators later interviewed Hardin at the city jail, where authorities allege he admitted involvement in the Jennings incident.
Prosecutors said Hardin is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond, with no 10% deposit option.
The St. Louis County Police Department 's City of Jennings Precinct is investigating.
All charges are accusations. Hardin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
