Florissant, MO – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has filed charges against 23 year old Charles Brown, Jr., of the 1000 block of Lees Lane, in connection with an officer involved shooting that occurred Monday, September 14, 2026.
According to authorities, Brown allegedly faces charges of Assault First Degree, Tampering With Motor Vehicle First Degree, Endangering Welfare of a Child, and Resisting Arrest. Officials state the defendant is currently being held on a $500,000 cash only bond. All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The investigation began when Florissant detectives identified a stolen 2013 Hyundai Sonata and tracked it to a gas station on Page Avenue. Officers reportedly identified themselves and attempted to effect an arrest based on warrants issued on September 14, 2026. Brown allegedly ignored commands, entered the vehicle, and attempted to flee.
During the incident, a detective reaching into the open driver’s side window was reportedly dragged as the vehicle reversed. The officer suffered injuries to his head, shoulder, and shins. Fearing for his partner's safety, another detective discharged his service weapon. Brown then fled the area at high speed, unknowingly with his 12 year old brother in the vehicle. St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading the ongoing investigation.
