Minneapolis, MN – Minnesota residents are preparing for a dramatic weather reversal as near record October warmth pushes temperatures toward 90 degrees Sunday, October 11, before a cold front sends readings sharply lower heading into the middle of next week.
According to the National Weather Service NWS Twin Cities office, record temperatures were observed Saturday, with another unusually warm day expected Sunday before a significant cooldown arrives Monday.
Sunday Temperatures Could Reach 90 Degrees Sunday afternoon highs are forecast to range from 80 to 90 degrees across the region, well above the seasonal average of approximately 60 degrees.
Increasing cloud cover is expected throughout Sunday, but temperatures will remain unusually warm for mid October.
Overnight lows heading into Sunday are forecast between 60 and 70 degrees, compared with typical lows around 40 degrees.
The unusually warm conditions will begin changing as a cold front moves through the region.

Areas north of I 94 could experience lingering showers early Tuesday morning.
Temperatures Drop Into the 50s and 60s By Tuesday, October 13, afternoon temperatures are forecast to fall to 58 to 68 degrees , marking a substantial change from Sunday's summerlike conditions.
Tuesday morning lows could range from 45 to 55 degrees, with partly sunny skies expected later in the day.
Temperatures Tuesday night could fall further, with lows between 40 and 50 degrees.
