Minneapolis, MN – A significant October warming trend is heading toward the Twin Cities and surrounding communities, with temperatures expected to climb into the 70s by the middle and latter part of next week. Afternoon highs could reach 15 to 20 degrees above normal, bringing an unusually warm stretch of autumn weather.
According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities office, temperatures will increase nearly every day through Friday, October 23, with highs rising from around 60 degrees Saturday into the middle 70s by late next week.
Temperatures Begin Climbing Sunday
Saturday, October 17, will feature seasonably cool conditions, with afternoon temperatures around the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.
By Sunday, October 18, highs are expected to climb into the middle 60s, beginning a steady warming trend across the region.
Monday should bring similar temperatures before another increase arrives Tuesday, when afternoon highs could approach the upper 60s.
The National Weather Service forecast graphic indicates generally sunny to partly sunny conditions throughout much of the warming period.
70 Degree Temperatures Return Midweek
Wednesday, October 21, marks the beginning of a notably warmer stretch, with temperatures expected to reach the lower 70s.
By Thursday and Friday, afternoon highs could climb into the middle 70s, potentially reaching 15 to 20 degrees above seasonal averages.
The warming trend will be particularly noticeable as normal late October high temperatures gradually decline across Minnesota.
Unseasonable Warmth Extends Into Friday
The National Weather Service expects the warming trend to continue through the end of the workweek, although cloud cover may increase Friday.
Residents across Minneapolis, St. Paul and surrounding communities in Hennepin and Ramsey counties can anticipate increasingly mild afternoons.
The warmer conditions may provide favorable opportunities for outdoor recreation, yardwork and other fall activities.
However, temperatures and daily weather conditions may change as the forecast period approaches.
