Minneapolis, MN – Minnesota residents may be experiencing one of their final stretches of 70 degree weather in 2026, with afternoon temperatures expected to climb as high as 77 degrees Thursday before changing conditions arrive this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities office, mild weather will continue through Saturday, October 24, but another 70 degree day may not occur until 2027.
The unusually warm stretch will bring several days of sunshine and comfortable afternoon temperatures across the Twin Cities and surrounding portions of southern and central Minnesota.
Tuesday's temperatures are expected to reach 66 to 72 degrees , with sunny skies and overnight lows falling into the 42 to 47 degree range.
Wednesday will bring another mostly sunny day, with afternoon highs climbing between 68 and 73 degrees. Overnight temperatures will generally settle into the 40s.
Thursday is expected to be the warmest day of the week , with temperatures reaching 70 to 77 degrees across the forecast area. Mostly sunny skies will accompany the warmup, while overnight lows remain between 50 and 55 degrees.
Friday will remain relatively mild, with highs ranging from 67 to 75 degrees. However, winds are expected to increase as partly cloudy conditions develop.
By Saturday, a change in the weather pattern becomes more noticeable.
The Weather Service forecasts mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and afternoon temperatures between 66 and 71 degrees. Overnight lows could fall into the middle 40s to around 50 degrees.
Although temperatures are expected to remain mild through Saturday, forecasters suggest this stretch could mark the final opportunity for widespread 70 degree warmth before colder seasonal patterns become established.
Residents planning outdoor activities may want to take advantage of the sunny conditions through Thursday, particularly before increasing winds and weekend rain chances arrive.
