Duluth, MN – Widespread frost is expected across much of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Sunday night into Monday morning, with some locations potentially reaching freezing temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, forecast lows range from around 30 degrees in the coldest inland locations to the upper 30s and lower 40s near Lake Superior. Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories will likely be needed for parts of the region.
Forecast lows include 30 degrees at Big Falls and Hurley, Wisconsin; 31 at International Falls and Bigfork; and 32 at Virginia, Sea Gull Lake, Solon Springs, Hayward and Phillips. Grand Rapids and Moose Lake are forecast near 33, while Duluth is expected to remain warmer at about 36 degrees.
The coldest conditions are expected during the predawn hours Monday. The NWS forecast shows temperatures around 32 degrees across the Iron Range and north central Minnesota by 6 a.m. Northwest Wisconsin could also reach about 32 degrees.
Areas close to Lake Superior should generally remain milder. Forecast lows include 38 degrees at Two Harbors and 41 at Port Wing, while the North Shore and South Shore are expected to remain above freezing.
The NWS said more widespread frost is expected than during the preceding cold night, and some areas may experience a freeze. Residents with sensitive outdoor plants should prepare to protect them.
