Duluth, MN – After a wet start to the week, residents across northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin can expect a noticeably quieter stretch of weather beginning Friday, Nov. 6, with increasing sunshine and above normal temperatures carrying into early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a generally dry weather pattern will dominate the region over the next several days, although some lake effect snow remains possible Friday morning.
Friday begins chilly before improving conditions arrive.
Forecasters expect lake effect snow to taper off during the morning, with afternoon temperatures reaching between 40 and 46 degrees across the forecast area.
Overnight lows could fall between 20 and 30 degrees, bringing another cold November morning to portions of the Northland.
Despite the chilly start, the overall forecast signals a transition toward milder conditions.
A weekend warmup brings sunshine and temperatures into the 50s.
Saturday will feature partly to mostly cloudy skies, with afternoon highs ranging from 45 to 53 degrees.
Sunday looks especially pleasant for early November, with mostly sunny conditions and temperatures again climbing into the middle 40s to lower 50s.
Communities around Duluth, Superior, Two Harbors, Cloquet and surrounding areas should experience a relatively quiet weekend, although local temperatures will vary.
The warmest conditions are expected Monday, when decreasing cloud cover gives way to afternoon sunshine and highs between 51 and 59 degrees.
That represents a noticeable departure from typical early November temperatures across the region.
The National Weather Service notes that normal daytime highs for this time of year generally range from the middle 30s to middle 40s.
Tuesday remains relatively mild, with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs between 45 and 53 degrees.
Although overnight temperatures may still approach or fall below freezing in some locations, widespread significant precipitation is not indicated in the five day outlook.
