Marshall, MI – The Michigan Department of Transportation MDOT announced major infrastructure updates in Calhoun County as part of the Marshall Modernization Project. On Thursday, September 17, 2026, officials will open the M 96 bridge over I 94 in Emmett Township to traffic.
Concurrent with the opening, the M 311 11 Mile Road bridge over I 94 will close for approximately six weeks. During this period, crews are scheduled to rebuild the M 311 intersection with Wheatfield Avenue and the westbound I 94 ramp.
While all I 94 ramps are expected to remain open, traffic patterns will shift. Westbound I 94 traffic will be directed to use Wheatfield Avenue to access Michigan Avenue, while eastbound I 94 traffic will use Michigan Avenue and Wheatfield Avenue to reach 11 Mile Road.
Additionally, the Michigan Avenue entrance ramp to westbound I 94 will face daily closures from Friday, September 18, through Monday, September 21, to facilitate pavement work. Detours will be in place on westbound Michigan Avenue and southbound I 94 during these times. Have something happening in your community?
